What is emergency dental care?
A dental emergency is any problem that causes severe pain, swelling, bleeding or damage to a tooth. Getting seen quickly relieves pain sooner and improves the chance of saving the tooth.
During clinic hours (Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 2 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM) we keep time for urgent cases. Please call or send a WhatsApp message before coming so we can prepare.
Who needs it?
- Severe or throbbing toothache
- Facial or gum swelling
- A chipped, cracked or knocked-out tooth
- A lost filling or crown, or a broken denture

A spot on the chin can sometimes come from an infected tooth. This video shows a patient's chin sore alongside the 3D scan of the lower jaw, and a diagram of how deep decay leads to an abscess.

Recovery and aftercare
If a permanent tooth is knocked out, pick it up by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently and keep it in milk, then come in immediately: the first hour matters most.
If you have swelling that spreads to your eye or neck, or difficulty breathing or swallowing, go to a hospital emergency department straight away.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe pain, swelling, a knocked-out or broken tooth, or bleeding that does not stop are all dental emergencies.
What should I do for toothache before I can see a dentist?
Rinse with warm salt water, use a pain reliever you normally take safely, and avoid placing aspirin or clove directly on the gum. Then contact us.
Can a knocked-out tooth be saved?
Often yes, if it is put back within about an hour. Keep it in milk and come in immediately.
Are you open for emergencies on Sunday?
On Sundays the clinic sees patients by prior appointment only. Send us a WhatsApp message or call, and we will reply as soon as possible; for severe swelling or breathing difficulty, go to a hospital.
