What is kids dentistry?

Children's teeth have thinner enamel and can decay quickly. Kids dentistry focuses on preventing problems early, treating cavities gently, and teaching children and parents simple habits that protect their teeth.

Milk teeth matter: they help children chew, speak clearly and hold space for permanent teeth.

Who needs it?

  • A first dental visit around the first birthday, or when the first tooth appears
  • Children with visible holes, black spots or tooth pain
  • Children who snack often or sleep with a bottle
  • Regular six-monthly check-ups for every child

How the procedure works

  1. Step 1

    Friendly introduction

We let your child sit in the chair, see the tools and ask questions before any treatment.

  2. Step 2

    Check-up

We examine teeth and gums and look at how the jaw and teeth are developing.

  3. Step 3

    Prevention

Fluoride application and pit-and-fissure sealants protect teeth against decay.

  4. Step 4

    Treatment if needed

Cavities are treated gently, with numbing used where needed.

  5. Step 5

    Advice for parents

We guide you on brushing, diet and when to bring your child back.

Recovery and aftercare

Most children's treatments need no recovery time. After a filling with numbing, watch that your child does not bite their numb lip or cheek for a couple of hours.

Frequently asked questions

When should my child first see a dentist?

Around their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing.

Do milk teeth need fillings if they will fall out anyway?

Yes. Untreated decay in milk teeth can cause pain and infection and may affect the permanent teeth growing underneath.

What are dental sealants?

Sealants are a thin protective coating painted onto the grooves of back teeth, where food gets trapped. They help prevent cavities.

My child is scared of the dentist. What can we do?

Tell us in advance. We go slowly, explain everything in simple words and keep the first visit short and positive.
